CEO Poker event winner donates money to laundry charity
Eric Steinberg, PWS - The Laundry Company CEO, was the winner of the $1,500 Texas Hold'em event during the CEO Poker Tournament and donated some of his winnings to charity.
The CEO Poker Tournament was Steinberg's first try at tournament style poker. He was an alternate player in his friends' monthly recreational home game, but had never played a tournament before stepping foot in The Palms Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas to join more than 30 fellow CEOs for the $1,500 Hold'em event.
According to a press release, his colleagues warned him not to be too disappointed if he went out early because of his lack of experience, but Steinberg went on to become the winner of the Day 1 event after nine hours of play.
He celebrated his win by donating some of his prize money to Laundry Cares, the Coin Laundry Association's recently formed charitable foundation. The foundation's mission is to provide economic, equipment and supply support from the laundry industry to America's less fortunate.
"PWS has been a long-time active supporter of the CLA and of its mission," Steinberg said. "Today, I personally donated $2,000 to the CLA's non-profit foundation, Laundry Cares, to help support our industry's efforts to provide much-needed laundry resources to those in need throughout the United States."
Along with his cash winnings, Steinberg also won the $5,000 buy-in to the main event of the CEO Poker Tournament. Instead of staying to play in the event, Steinberg sold his entry to another CEO and returned to work since his wife wouldn't give him an extended leave of absence and everyone else was back at the company's eight offices working.
The main event was eventually won by Dan Fleyshman, CEO of Who's Your Daddy Inc. He won more than $40,000 for his efforts.
