VIP Poker player wins NFL game tickets

Joe B. became the first winner of VIP Poker's $2,000 Sports Fantasy Freeroll Nov. 5 walking away with an NFL prize package that includes two tickets to the game of his choice and airfare.

Joe chose the Dallas Cowboys versus New York Giants game Dec. 3 in New York for his prize.

"It's a fantastic opportunity to see two of the top NFL teams, and New York," said Joe who's really excited about seeing the game since there are no local NFL teams near where he lives.

Joe battled 134 other poker players and football fans to win the trip. At first he wasn't even going to play, since he has very little tournament experience despite playing poker with friends for 30 years.

"I had no expectation of winning and was just playing for entertainment," he said. "At about 50th place, I wanted to at least make the final table. The realizing of winning didn't hit until I was in eighth place. It was exciting that I possibly had a chance to win out of 135 players."

The final hand of the tournament came down to Joe making a full house and his opponent coming up with a flush.

"It took me a little while after that to have it sink in that I had actually won the NFL package," Joe said. "Dreams can come true when you least expect them."

VIP Poker will continue to make sports fans' dreams come true with their Sports Fantasy Freerolls. Tuesdays at 9 p.m., the site hosts its regular $500 Sports Freeroll, and once a month there is the $2,000 Sports Fantasy Freeroll from which the winner will get to choose a sports prize package.
