National Autism Association announces Atlantic City poker tournament

The National Autism Association (NAA) is hosting its first No-Limit Hold'em Poker Tournament fundraiser Nov. 2 at the Borgata Hotel, Casino and Spa in Atlantic City. There is a $250 fee with sign-in beginning at 5 p.m. and the tournament starting at 7 p.m.

The entry fee includes buy-in to the tournament in the Borgata's new 85-table poker room as well as a $100 contribution to the NAA, admission into the Mixx players' lounge, and gifts donated by sponsors. For $130, people can take part in the event without playing in the poker tournament.

"Borgata is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of others. Hosting the NAA Tournament is consistent with that mission." Said Ray Stefanell, Borgata director of poker marketing. "It's real Texas Hold'em action and excitement. Poker players can win while supporting a great cause."

The National Autism Association is a nonprofit, parent-run organization whose goal is to educate and empower families dealing with autism and other neurological disorders. The tournament proceeds will be used to help fund autism research and the NAA's Helping Hand program which provides financial assistance to families affected by autism.

"Autism has reached epidemic proportions in the U.S., affecting one in 166 children," said Wendy Fournier, NAA president and parent who plans to play in the event. "We hope the growing popularity of poker playing will offer an enjoyable venue for people to partner with NAA in finding a cure for the hundreds of thousands of children now diagnosed with autism."
