World Tavern Poker to host tournament at Binion's

The Third World Tavern Poker Open will start Friday at Binion's Hotel and Casino bringing more than 300 people to Las Vegas for four days of poker and parties.

The sold-out event includes two private parties and several different poker tournaments for people to participate in.

Some of the unique activities include a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon for one World Tavern Poker player who will go heads-up against World Tavern Poker Founder Mike Matsinger for $1,000 in the Grand Canyon, or "River Madness," during which eight finalists will attempt to build the best Texas Hold'em hand in a unique format. Details haven't yet been released about the "River Madness," except that it involves a "World Tavern Poker Swim Team."

There will also be plenty of opportunities for attendees to play various types of poker. There are two free tournaments for World Tavern Poker national qualifiers will take a shot at winning a $2,000 seat in the 2007 World Series of Poker. Several cash tournaments will also be available for players with buy-ins ranging from $75 to $200.

Some of the cash events include a heads-up tournament, a women's tournament, a speed poker tournament, a Bloody Mary tournament, and more. A "Playground" with six tables open all weekend exclusively for World Tavern Poker players will also be available so they can sit down and play any game they want such as No-Limit Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Limit Texas Hold'em, H.O.R.S.E, Stud, Sit and Go, and more.

World Tavern Poker has also planned a pub crawl to help support downtown Las Vegas Saturday evening.
