Norwegian wins EPT Barcelona

Bjorn-Erik Glenne, of Norway, conquered a record-breaking 480 players at the European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona Open Saturday to win €691,000.

The father of two from Oslo took on Phil Ivey during his EPT debut in heads up play to earn the champion title and the money.


The Barcelona Open was the first event of the third EPT season and attracted 155 more players than last year, making it the largest attendance for an EPT event and doubling last year's prize pool to €2,304,000.

Phil Ivey, won €371,000 for his second place finish, followed by Dave Gregory, from Essex, England, who won €184,300 for his efforts.

Other professional poker players who participated in the €5,000 buy-in N- Limit Texas Hold'em event were Joe Hachem, Isabelle Mercier, Humberto Brenes, Gus Hansen, Marcel Luske, and Mike Matusow.
