Company to provide gambling dens for seniors in China

Rather than watching more than $100 billion flow across the border to casinos or illegal Internet betting, China's government is seeking to develop the legal gambling market in the country.

One recent step they've made is to allow Sino Strategic International Ltd. (SSI) to provide gambling dens to aged-care facilities in 50 cities and to conduct a national poker tournament.


SSI, which entered the Chinese gaming market in October 2005 by buying lottery operator China Entertainment Holdings, has teamed up with the China Aged Care Fund (CACF) to develop the CACF Charity Poker Club. The partnership includes the creation of multi-function entertainment centers in aged-care facilities giving seniors a place to play poker and gamble.

To further aid the project's efforts, the Chinese Congress has issued decrees to various provincial and local municipalities to provide free allocated land to the CACF to assist with their objective to create retirement community properties that include the entertainment centers.

SSI has also been given permission to host national charity poker tournaments benefiting the CACF, which raises money to finance welfare for the helpless and the elderly in China.
