NASCAR drivers rev up for charity poker tournament

Before they line up on the race track in Las Vegas, several NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers will be sitting down at the poker tables to play in the Craftsman Truck Series Tough Poker Tournament to raise money for the Speedway Children's Charities.

The tournament will take place Sept. 20 at the South Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The casino has guaranteed a minimum of $10,000 will be donated to the Speedway Children's Charities during the tournament.

The drivers planned to participate in the tournament include Brendan Gaughan, Rick Crawford, Ron Hornaday, Mike Skinner, Jack Sprague, and Todd Bodine, the defending Las Vegas Motor Speedway race winner and current NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points leader. Several crewmembers, crew chiefs and other racing industry personalities will also participate.

"I'm more than ready to welcome our guests to Las Vegas - both on the track and at the poker table," said Brendan Gaughan, a Las Vegas native. "Everyone knows I'm very comfortable in my hometown, and I just hope that no one gets disappointed when I show them how it's done here. But the real winners in the 'Craftsman Truck Series Tough Poker Tournament' will be those that the local Speedway Children's Charities will help with their efforts, and we know everyone will feel great about that."

The charity, which was founded in 1984, provides funds to organizations that meet the direct needs of children in order to make sure that no child is left behind regardless of illness, social environment, or disability.
