Bay St. Louis casino will reopen Aug. 31

The Hollywood Casino and Hotel, formerly Casino Magic, in Bay St. Louis, Mo., will reopen ahead of schedule Aug. 31, a year after the resort was damaged during Hurricane Katrina.

The renovated resort will include a new poker room as well as other improvements.


"Construction and restoration came together very quickly in these last few months, allowing us to open much earlier than anticipated," said Marty Moore, senior director of marketing for Hollywood. "We are excited and delighted to get Hollywood Casino Bay St. Louis operational and back into the Mississippi economy."

More than 75% of the original employees will return to the Hollywood Casino which was rebuilt to include 291 guest rooms in the hotel, 900 new slot machines, 20 unique table games, and a new six-table poker room. On opening day three of four restaurants will also open, with a fourth scheduled to open in October with the Bridges Golf Course.

The casino also upgraded its meeting space during the rebuilding process and added three more meeting rooms to compliment the 10,000-square-foot ballroom.

"We've had incredible support from our parent company, Penn National Gaming, our cast members, Roy Anderson Construction, and local officials to pull this all together and open ahead of schedule," said John Jagunich, the president and CEO of the casino.
