Underwater poker for Labor Day weekend

The third annual Bottomless Bubblefest celebration over Labor Day weekend at Bottomless Lakes State Park in New Mexico will feature an underwater poker game as the highlight of the weekend this year.

For the "Dive Poker Tournament," park rangers will toss two decks of weighted cards into Lea Lake Sept. 3, and divers will collect and discard cards in an effort to come up with the best five-card hand.

They won't be able to hold more than five cards at a time, and may discard one at a time in exchange for new cards. Prizes will be awarded to the diver with the best hand.

The Sept. 2-4 celebration offers other activities including beach volleyball, guided nature hikes and presentations about the plant and animal life in the several lakes in the park.

Bottomless Lakes State Park is a popular scuba diving destination in New Mexico. The annual Bubblefest celebration provides fun and educational activities for divers and other visitors.

There are no registration forms or fees needed to take part in the weekend's events, but day use and camping fees do apply.
