New Zealander wins gold bracelet

Simon Watt of New Zealand won his first gold WSOP bracelet and more than $600,000 after defeating Tom Dwan heads up in the 11th event of the 2010 World Series of Poker, $1,500 No Limit Hold’em game.

This game was the 3rd of 7 $1,500 No Limit Hold’em games in this year’s series. The field started with 2,563 players and took 3 days to play down to a winner. Watt’s first WSOP victory was somewhat overshadowed by the side bets on Dwan who stood to win million’s from prop bets of other pro poker players including Mike Matusow.

Some of the more notable players in the field were Phil Ivey, Vitaly Lunkin, Shaun Deeb, Kathy Liebert, Nenad Medic and Eric Schoenbergh.
