Patrick Karschamroon Wins CA State Poker Championship
The $3,085 no-limit hold’em championship event at the California State Poker Championship came to a conclusion on May 24. Patrick Karschamroon was the champion, and he was awarded $162,970 in prize money. He topped an impressive final table that included Gavin Griffin (third place) and Miami John Cernuto (fourth place) on the final day of the event. Lenny Tam of West Covina, California, finished in second place and took home $86,750.
Karschamroon is a local player from Los Angeles, California, who turned pro five years ago.
“I’ve been playing poker with my family for nickels and dimes since I was seven years old,” said Karschamroon. “I love what I do. For me, poker is the greatest job in the world.” Karschamroon increased his career earnings to $231,911 with the victory.
Tournament director Matt Savage also offered some perspective on the championship event.
“Patrick played great poker against a very tough final table,” said Savage. “Miami John and Gavin are formidable opponents, and the final nine also included several stellar Internet poker players. Congratulations to Patrick Karschamroon on claiming the title of Cal State Champion in convincing style at one of Commerce Casino’s showcase events.”
The final championship event had a total prize pool worth $509,250 up for grabs and it brought the 21-event tournament series to a close. The California State Poker Championship began on May 5 and during three weeks it awarded multiple tournament titles and millions of dollars in prize money.
