Long Time Gamer tries out poker
Richard Garriott is known to be somewhat eccentric. He spent millions of dollars for a trip to space; he has a shrunken head in his home, and is known as Lord British to his gaming followers. He created Ultima and Tabula Rasa but now is going a different gaming direction.
Garriott will be showing us a new game to be called Portalarium, a poker game that will soon be released for Facebook. Poker on Facebook is very popular with the Zynga Texas Hold’em and Playfish Poker Rivals.
According to Garriott, “If you look at the state of the art in social media gaming right now, it lags behind a lot of the more experienced developers by a fairly significant margin.”
Portalarium is said to also be working on a plug-in for facebook that will also help in supporting applications other than the ones that use Flash player. As Flash is one of the forces that is required to play some of the best games on social networking sites like FarmVille etc. This is probably one of the most interesting announcements made by Garriott’s especially when you know that Flash is not too great with the iPhone and the iPad.
