Coconut Creek Seminole Casino Hit by Robber

In Southern Florida sits the Coconut Creek Seminole Casino’s Poker room. This past Friday, the room was rocked when a person came in waving a gun at and employee and demanded money.

It is thought that the robber is a male. He was wearing a baseball cap and witnesses say he was in is twenties, 5’10’ and weighs about 170 pounds. The robber didn’t attempt to shield his face much and authorities believe they may have a clear picture of his face from surveillance cameras.

Witnesses also said that the robber left the scene in an older Cadillac after snatching up a couple thousand dollars.

"We're reviewing surveillance videos from multiple cameras, hoping there's a clear image of him in one of them," said Gary Bitner, a Spokesman for the Seminole Casino, as reported by the Sun-Sentinel.

The Coconut Creek Seminole Casino is one of the locations that the Seminole tribe has plans for major gambling expansion in the future. It is one of the tribe's casinos that does not currently offer blackjack.

The Seminoles have negotiated two gambling compacts with Governor Charlie Crist, but lawmakers in the state have voted down both compacts. Now, legislators may be focusing on other gambling expansion for the state, leaving the disagreement between the Seminoles in the state involving blackjack to be settled on a federal level.
