PCA crowns youngest champ

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure has come to an end and the youngest ever winner was crowned champion of the Main Event. Many of the players at the final table were young but it was 19 year old Harrison Gimbel took home the top prize of $2.2 million.

This was Gimbels first big buy in live event but the way he played told a much different story. Gimbel was poised and comfortable and looked like a season pro. At the start of the day Gimbel had a modest chip stack but it was his all in against World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) winner Ryan D'Angelo that secured him the chip lead.

There were a number of big hands and preflop altercations, the first of which came when Ty 'puffinmypurp' Reiman picked up pocket aces against Thomas 'gommyboy83' Koral's pocket queens to knock Koral out in 8th place. The two short stacks, Zachary Goldberg and Aage Ravn, busted out in 7th and 6th respectively and it was D'Angelo who hit the rail next in 5th place.

After admittedly running really well during the early and middle stages of the tournament, D'Angelo had a rough day at the table. Doubling up Gimbel began his demise and, after failing to rebuild his stack back up to where he started, he made his exit. Benjamin 'xthesteinx' Zamani nursed his short stack as long as he could, but ultimately busted out in 4th place.

Shulman was aiming to rack up his second major victory in six months after winning the World Series of Poker Europe, but lost some chips to Zamani midway through the final table. He doubled up his short stack twice during three-handed play, but a second victory was not to be for Shulman and he hit the rail in third place.

Heads-up play pitted Gimbel against the 21-year old Reiman. The duo sparred for a while before Gimbel overtook the chip lead and began to pull away from his opponent. On the final hand of play Reiman made his stand with pocket eights only to run into Gimbel's pocket tens. A ten on the flop left Reiman drawing slim and the eight on the turn left him with a single out to survive and double up. The river brought the J to ensure victory for Gimbel.

Gimbel told the crowd he isn't sure what he will do with his $2.2 million just yet, but a new car or house are definite possibilities. In the meantime, he and his friends will be celebrating his victory after six long and grueling days of poker play.

The Main Event may be over and done, but the PCA still has a couple days of fun in store. The High Rollers Event began today and drew around 80 runners, including reigning PCA High Rollers Champ and Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand 'ElKy' Grospellier.
