Day 7 of WSOP and Millions given away

We are now into Day 7 of the 2009 World Series of Poker and millions of dollars in prize monies have already been awarded and attendance records are being broken even in this struggling economy.

Just six of the 57 events have either being played or have been completed. Three bracelets and the Jack Binion Memorial Cup have been awarded along with a 1970 Corvette.

Casino Employee, Andrew Cohen was awarded $83K and the first bracelet of the Series, while Vitaly Lunkin won Event #2, a bracelet and almost $1,9Million. Event #3 was won by Thang Luu, who along with his new WSOP bracelet took home a prize of $263K. This was the 2nd year in a row that Luu won this event. That event also broke a record for having 918 players.

The fourth event of the series was dubbed was the 'Stimulus Special' where the buy in was $1,000. This was the largest non-Main Evnet in WSOP History.

Between Events #4 and #5 was a Champions Invitational, where are former Main Event winners got the chance to compete for the Jack Binion Memorial Cup and a 1970 Chevy Classic Corvette.

So for those of you that were at the WSOP in the opening days who were wondering what that Corvette was doing in the entrance to the Rio Convention Center, there you have it.

So, even though this year's WSOP was predicted to have a smaller turnout, that doesnt seem to be the case so far.
