Former Soprano is named as new poker TV show host
Steve Schirripa, former cast member of the HBO series ‘The Sopranos’ has been named to be the host of “Face the Ace” and new NBC poker show.
The television series will have contestants selected from an online search. Those contestants selected will then compete against big name poker pros in Las Vegas for cash prizes up to $1Million, the network said.
"Face the Ace" is to premiere Aug. 1 and continue Aug. 8 before future air dates on Saturday afternoons beginning in September.
"'Face the Ace' will feature four smoked-glass doors -- behind each is a legendary professional poker player. In each episode, one or more lucky contestants get to pick an 'Ace' and their opponent will emerge from behind one of the doors," NBC said in a news release. "They will play heads-up no limit Hold'Em, an exciting game that requires confidence, aggression and bluffing. The contestant will play up to three different Aces in a series of heads-up matches."
