Phil Hellmuth to attend Mint Jubilee Party at Kentucky Derby

The top WSOP bracelet winner, Phil Hellmuth is reportedly going to be among the celebrity guests attending the Mint Jubilee party on May 1st leading up to Saturday’s running of the Kentucky Derby.

The Louisville Courier Journal has reported that several other celebrities will attend the festivies to be held in the Galt House Hotel & Suites Grand Ballroom. Emmy Award winners Marg Helgenberger and Doris Roberts will attend, as well as Mekhi Phifer from ‘ER’ and ‘8 Mile’, Damon Wayans and Joe Piscopo, who is planning on impersonating Frank Sinatra at the party. Other celebrities on the guest list are Valerie Bertinelli, Kathryn Joosten of ‘Desperate Housewives’ and Country music star Josh Turner is scheduled to perform live.

Some Kentucky athletes will also attend the gala.

The Mint Jubilee party was created in the early 1990s by Tom and Chris Thieneman and Matt Battaglia as a way to give back to the city of Louisville and its residents. The idea fo a Kentucky Derby gala to raise money for a worthwhile cause seemed natural. By enlisting the help of founding chair Tonya York Dees, who was with Greater Louisville Inc. at the time, the event was a resounding success.
Over the years the Mint Jubilee Gala has grown from 250 attendees to more than 1,500 and has become a signature Kentucky Derby event. The Mint Jubilee's success is due in large part to the tireless work of more than 100 volunteers and generous donations from its numerous corporate sponsors and auction item donors.
