Poker Dad wins Grosvenor UK Poker Tour

It seems that poker playing and the ability to be successful in it may be hereditary. Just ask Chris ‘Moorman1’ Moorman and his father. Simon Moorman was the last man standing in the 2009 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour stop in Manchester, England at the G Casino. He successfully outlast 297 competitors to take the top prize of more than £88,000.

The elder Moorman received his seat to the tournament as a birthday gift from his son Chris. This was only the second live poker tournament Simon has ever played. He isn’t a poker pro but works as a credit manager for a toy company.

Heads up action came as Simon was left to battle against Harri Isomaki of Finland. As the final hand of the tournament came, both players were all in with Simon a slight favorite preflop holding A-5 to the K-8 held by Isomaki. When an Ace came on the flop Simon was out in front. As the turn and river fell, neither players hand improved and Simon came out on top.
