APT gets commitment from Online Poker Rooms
Several leading online poker rooms have revealed that they will provide online qualifier games for the Asian Poker Tour (APT). This year’s event will be held in Macau from August 12 -23 at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino.
Because of the success rate of last years event, Asia’s leading poker circuit announced that the length of the Macau tournament will be increased from a six day event to a twelve day event and will add some new side events too.
Some of the online poker rooms that have already announced they will send players to the event are PartyPoker.com, iPoker Network and Ongame Network. Those three networks are ranked 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the online poker industry. A few of the other online poker rooms that will also be sending players are Bwin.com, PKR.com and 32Red.com.
“We are very encouraged by the enthusiasm of our partners to send players and we look forward to welcoming more online poker rooms on board,” said Chris Parker, Chief Executive Officer for the APT.
“This year’s APT Macau festival will be bigger and better with twelve days of non-stop poker action and fun. The Main Event has been extended with the first of three day-ones getting underway on August 19 and the televised final table scheduled for August 23.
“The APT Macau will feature a side event schedule never seen in Asia before including several new formats that will stir the curiosity of poker enthusiasts at all levels.
“We are currently witnessing record numbers in our APT-sponsored room at the Starworld and six-figure US-dollar pots are now a regular occurrence. We believe Asia is ready for its first festival of poker and that it will establish Macau as an essential stop on the international circuit.”
The Main Event will have a buy in of $4,300. Some high limit games and sit-n-go games will also be running throughout the course of the event. Last year’s event hosted a $129,000 high-rollers game that will be repeated while higher stakes are expected.
