Manchester Gears Up For Bluff Europe Poker Academy
21 April, 2009 (London, UK) – Manchester’s 235 Casino is set to host the inaugural Bluff Europe Poker Academy next Saturday (26th April), as Europe’s biggest poker magazine offers you the chance to “learn from the pros”.
Manchester is the first stop on a nationwide tour that will take in Birmingham, Dublin and London over the next month where the likes of Devilfish and Phil “the Unabomber” Laak will be joining in the fun.
The day comprises three hours of interactive lectures followed by four hours of tournament play with direct supervision from a pro. This tour, the first in a wider series of lectures, will address issues vital to poker success such as “the Theory of Poker”, luck and variance, mastering tilt, dealing with defeat, and bankroll management.
“This is a great opportunity for intermediate players to come along and improve their game by learning from some of the best players in the country and hopefully have a lot of fun at the same time,” said Master of Ceremonies Alex Rousso.
Poker in Manchester is burgeoning and, as the city’s premier luxury gaming, dining and live music club the Manchester 235 is the natural venue for the Academy’s first stop. The casino boasts contemporary interiors, classic and electronic gaming, stylish bars, an intimate music venue 235Live, and two distinctive restaurants.
Alex Rousso has a PhD in evolutionary psychology and has taught university undergraduates. He ran the family pickle importing business until he started making more money per hour playing poker. He now writes a column for Bluff Europe (as "Pickleman") and can be found most days online at the PLO cash tables.
Paul “Action” Jackson is a revered UK tournament player from the Midlands. Although he has enjoyed much success in the UK circuit, he is perhaps best known worldwide for his second place finish at the Monte Carlo Millions in 2005. His heads up battle against Phil Ivey, with its bluffing and re-bluffing, has become a YouTube classic.
Ian “The Raiser” Frazer is a familiar face to all viewers of poker on TV. His aggressive play and fearless reads have made him one of the most successful players of all time in the six-seater format.
There are still places available on all four stops of the tour but not for long so interested parties should hurry if they want to secure a place.
Tickets cost £125 + £25, which includes the tournament buy-in. For more information or to sign-up, visit www.bluffeurope.com/pokeracademy.
