WSOP Ladies Only Academy to be hosted by Annie Duke

The World Series Of Poker Academy Ladies Only Event will be returning for its third straight year to Caesars Palace and the women running the show this time will be none other than Celebrity Apprentice star and WSOP bracelet winner, Annie Duke.

Duke will play drill sergeant to a group of female poker players on June 5th and 6th. This event comes just before the WSOP $1,000 Ladies No Limit Hold'em World Championship.

In previous years the timing of the event has worked out quite well for a few women. In 2007, Sally Anne Boyer finished the poker academy and went on to capture the bracelet in the WSOP Ladies Event. Last year's 3rd place finisher in the Ladies WSOP Event, Patty Till, was also a grad of the Academy. And Mary Jo Belcore-Zogman, another graduate of the WSOP Ladies Only Academy, was named the 2008 Heartland Poker Tour Player of the Year after she won one of the HPT events and was at two other HPT final tables.

“The success of our grads is testament to the level of instruction Annie Duke and all of our instructors offer our participants,” said Brandon Rosen of Post Oak Productions, the company that runs the WSOP Academy. “We’re expecting to see more WSOP Academy grads at final tables in 2009.”

Duke will be joined in instruction by BLUFF Magazine contributor and tells expert Joe Navarro and Alex “The Insider” Outhred. The three will provide a total immersion crash
course emphasizing a wide variety of no-limit strategies, including playing position, calculating odds, aggression, and changing gears . Navarro, meanwhile, will host a special seminar focusing on female-specific nonverbal behavior.

Full tuition for the WSOP Academy Ladies Only Event is $1,699, but only $425 is needed
to lock down a spot (with the rest billed later). Space is limited so early registration at the WSOP Academy website is always recommended.
