Borgata Hotel and Casino to unveil poker room

The title of "largest poker room" in Atlantic City will change hands June 30 when the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa opens its new facility.

The 21,500 square-foot poker room will have 85 tables with separate sections featuring high limits, a tournament room, and a main poker room, as well as a safe deposit box room.


There will be an 18-table High Limit Room offering food service as well as a nine-table tournament area featuring bleacher seating for tournament viewing. The tournament area can also be partitioned off to create a reserved poker section.

The Main Poker Room has 58 tables and plasma televisions and will offer live poker action and a large variety of games and limits, including all variations of Texas Hold'em, Seven-Card Stud, and Omaha.

The opening of the poker room brings with it several poker events through the summer. The first is the WIP Grudge Match Final Table June 30 during which WIP Sports Talk listeners who made the final table will battle it out representing the hosts of the show on either Team Eskin or Team Cataldi for a chance to win a share of $25,000.

Also starting the day of the poker room's opening is the Borgata Holiday Weekend Tournament that will run through July 4. On the initial day, players will be vying for a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The Borgata will also host an Electronics Giveaway July 1 through 4 for all My Borgata cardholders playing in the poker room. They will announce a winner every hour from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day for prizes including a 32-inch LCD flat panel television, DVD recorders, digital cameras, portable DVD players, more.

One of the largest events helping debut the new poker room will be the Borgata Summer Poker Open Tournament July 5 through 20. This inaugural tournament will offer players a chance to participate in 13 main events as well as super satellites, second chance cash and sit-and-go tournaments.
