Online Gambling Industry may benefit from Tough Times

Not many gamblers were happy when the UIGEA was passed and is something many have been fighting to overturn ever since. Currently the UIGEA is still in place, but may start to lose its ground before long, something online poker players and gamblers have been anxiously waiting for.

With the current economic struggles states are making cuts, reducing budgets, and much more in an effort to help with this tough situation. California, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and North Dakota are all working toward their own online gambling bill which could allow online gambling in their state. This alone is a great step.
Just a few days ago Rep. Barney Frank talked about $52 Billion dollars in tax revenue that the US could be missing out on with the UIGEA in place, which is one reason he is preparing a bill that would overturn UIGEA. No one can deny that $52 Billion is a lot of money and could really help the US in this tough economic time.
All of this looks to be great progress toward removing the UIGEA so the public can freely play Texas Holdem Poker or any other form of online gambling. It will be interesting to see how things unroll in the next 6-12 months.
