FTOPS in Full Swing – Event #1 Recap

The Full Tilt Online Poker Series XI is well underway. The first game of the series was on February 4th with a guaranteed $1Million prize pool. It was No Limit Texas Hold’em with a $216 buy in and a total of 6,275 players the action ended with online player ‘muckducks’ winning the top prize of $216k.

The first hand of this final table saw ‘song1234’ go all in and double up against ‘John Newcombe’ with an AA vs. AK. The second hand was another all in hand where ‘amster ATX’ put his A10 suited against the pocket kings of ‘headbang’. When a king came on the turn, ‘amster ATX needed a spade to drop on the turn to stay in the game. It didn’t come and he was the first final table player to leave. And just a few hands later we saw ‘John Newcombe’ put all his remaining 700k chips in after the flop against the current chip leader ‘sticky seats’. Newcombe doubled up with pocket 8s.

The very next hand came another all in bet by ‘ich bin pro’ with pocket Jacks against ‘muckducks’ who held AQ suited. When two Aces came it was over for ‘ich bin pro’, which put ‘muckducks in the chip lead. The next all in bet was from ‘song1234’ who put all his chips in with pocket tens but failed to improve his hand against the pocket kings of ‘sticky seat’.

It eventually came down to ‘sticky seat’ against ‘muckducks’ and it was the latter player who held on to win the first FTOPS event of 2009.
