WPT Southern Poker Championship crowns Allen Carter winner

Late Saturday night the World Poker Tour crowned its newest millionaire. Allen Carter won the Southern Poker Championship and won a million dollars and a $25,000 seat to the WPT Championship.

The final table lasted almost 12 hours and saw Carter emerge with the title, $1Million and a seat at the WPT Championship. Carter eliminated Bobby Suer heads-up just before 2 am CT to win the crown. Suer took him $501,028 for his runner-up performance.
The event lasted four days and was held at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi and featured some some names in poker. Some of those were Erick Lindgren, Brandon Cantu, Tiffany Michelle, Bill Elder, Barry Greenstein and Nick Schulman. None of them however made the final table, which left six relatively unknown poker players racing for the million dollars and the title.
The closest any familiar face to making the table was Vanessa Rousso who finished in the in unenviable spot of seventh, one shy of the WPT final table. Rousso walked away with $79,117.
The action started out with a field of 283 players which meant the guaranteed $1M first price was a little shy of the million, but tournament organizers decided that the Beau Rivage would chip in the remaining $24,000 to ensure the 7-figure first place money.
WPT Southern Poker Championship Final Table Payouts
1. Allen Carter - $1,025,500
2. Bobby Suer - $501,028
3. Soheil Shamseddin - $263,725
4. Hilbert Shirey - $184,607
5. Tyler Smith - $134,500
6. Chuck Kim - $105,490
