A new year starts for the Aussie Millions Poker Series

The 2009 poker tournament series, Aussie Millions, has started with the Melbourne Crown Casino’s A$1,100 no limit Hold’em event and a A$1,050 No limit Hold’em event played on the new PokerPro Electronic poker tables.

Beating out a field of more than 700 players, Christian Heich of Germany was the winner in the A$1,100 event. At the start of final table action Heich was third in the chip lead and quickly caught up to the top when heads-up action started against Steve Topakas. Heich came out the victor and A$150,000 richer after Topakas’ hand failed to top his trip Jacks.

In the A$1,050 event there were 83 players seated at the PokerPro electronic poker tables, including Annette “Annette_15” Obrestad and Wesley “tEh_R3aLde4L” Whybrew. In the end it was Australian native Mitchell Carle who took down the last pot and walked away with A$25,000 in winnings.
