PokerStars sets Guinness World Record in Online Poker

35,000 Players Participate in the $10 Tournament

It is official; PokerStars can now say they have made history. This past Sunday, PokerStars has become home to the biggest no-limit Hold’em tournament. The tournament came in the conclusion of the World Record Weekend promotion and saw an amazing 35,000 players ante up their $10+$1 buy-in to be part of history. If that wasn't enough, PokerStars was kind enough to offer up a $150,000 overlay to reward its loyal players.

As far as the breaking the record goes, that seem to never be in question. Registration for the big event has been open for several weeks and all the seats had been filled days before the action began. The hype for this tournament made for increases of traffic throughout the whole site, making PokerStars able to see more than 250K players logged in and seated at more than 33K tables, setting yet another record for the most players simultaneously logged in at a given time.

Though many were disappointed to be left out of the historic tournament, that didn't stop those players from flooding other tournaments and cash games, creating what many reported as a slight lag to the site's processing. Order was quickly restored, but there were little hiccups throughout the night as the servers stayed busy.

Despite the enormous field size, the players reached the money in less than three hours. During hand-for-hand play, a total of 80 players were eliminated, starting the inevitable dash towards the final table.

Here are the final table results:
1. stan34powa — $30,000
2. meiky777 — $20,000
3. rumred14 — $15,000
4. Goldman007 — $10,000
5. Nekochan48 — $7,500
6. gustave44 — $5,000
7. n0ideahh — $3,500
8. alepolice — $2,500
9. ONE_TIMEE — $2,000
10. FuFish — $1,500
