Poker run to benefit local Toys for Tots drive

Local motorcycle enthusiasts can help Toys For Tots provide toys for local children this Christmas by participating in the 2nd Annual Poker Run on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The event, sponsored by Lake Country Detachment 1085 of the United States Marine Corps League, will be held at Pipedreams Custom Cycles & Grill, located at 979 Oine Rd. near Norlina.

Registration will begin at 10 a.m. The poker run will cover approximately 80 miles with the first motorcycle leaving at 11 a.m. and the last at 12 noon. Participants will pick up a card at Pipedreams before they travel to different locations, where they will also obtain a playing card. Once they have five cards, they will return to Pipedreams with their "hand."

The holder of the best hand will receive $100, and the one with the worst hand will win $50.


The cost for entering will be $15 per hand, which includes meal ticket.

Following the poker run, there will be food, bike games, door prizes and trophies.

All proceeds will benefit needy children in the Lake Country area, including Warren County.
