Maxim magazine to build casino resort in Vegas
Maxim magazine, the men's lifestyle publication read by males of all ages across the globe, announced this month its partnership with premiere real estate developer Concord Wilshire Partners, LLC to build a luxury $1.2 billion Maxim Hotel & Casino at the north end of the Las Vegas strip on the site of the Westward Ho.
The announcement comes after almost two years of research and discussions conducted by Dennis Publishing US, owner of Maxim, and representatives of Concord Wilshire Partners.
According to Stephen Colvin, president and CEO of Dennis Publishing US, Maxim will be actively involved in all aspects of the development of the resort complex, which is set to open in 2010 with construction beginning next year.
The upscale hotel and casino will be built on nine acres of land and will feature a 60,000-square foot casino, Blender magazine-branded indoor and outdoor concert spaces, a luxury spa, retail stores, various swimming pools, high end restaurants, and conference and event spaces.
The resort will boast 2,300 rooms, most of which will be condominium hotel units, and a "Maxim Lounge" run by famous nightclub entrepreneur Rande Gerber, husband of supermodel Cindy Crawford.
The Maxim Hotel & Casino will serve as a showcase for advertiser and sponsor events and be fully ready for television and radio production.
"We have received numerous offers to take the Maxim brand to Las Vegas," said Colvin, who led the discussions with Concord Wilshire. "Concord Wilshire showed us that they have the location, resources, vision and business know-how to ensure that together we will build a first class property that reflects the core values of the Maxim brand."
"It makes perfect sense for us to join forces with the world's largest men's brand in creating a venue in Las Vegas, which like Maxim, taps a worldwide audience," said Steve Sirang, CEO of Concorde Wilshire.
