Poker Players Alliance adds Howard Lederer to their board

Two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Howard Lederer has signed on to join the Poker Player's Alliance (PPA) board of directors.

PPA is a grassroots organization of more than 27,000 American poker players that works to promote the game, ensure its integrity, and protect poker players' rights.

"I'm thrilled that Howard has agreed to join our board," said Michael Bolcerek, PPA president. "Howard's reputation within the poker community and his ongoing efforts on behalf of our organization and poker players to defend the game from attacks by Congress and others make him a great addition to the board."

Lederer teamed up with the PPA and poker pros Chris Ferguson and Greg Raymer in April 2006 to meet with members of Congress and educate them about the game of poker and why their attempts to ban the online game with bills H.R. 4777, the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act, and H.R. 4111, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2005, are unwise.

"Poker is under attack by Congress, and I believe that all poker players should join the PPA and tell Capitol Hill that we do not want the Federal government to ban an American tradition that we love," Lederer said.

"The challenge of promoting and protecting poker is the reason I joined the PPA as a member and wanted to get personally involved by joining the PPA board of directors."
