Veterans Home gearing up for motorcycle poker run
Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! In conjunction with the American Legion POW/MIA 24-hour Vigil, the New Hampshire Veterans' Home and the New Hampshire Leathernecks Motorcycle Club announce that the 5th annual New Hampshire Veterans' Home Motorcycle Poker Run will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6. The rain date will be Sunday Sept. 7.
Registration will be held from 8-10 a.m. at the New Hampshire Veterans Home, 139 Winter Street, Tilton, NH and all riders are welcome.
The entry fee is $25 minimum donation per bike, and an additional $15 donation per passenger. Proof of insurance is required. Additional hands may be purchased for $5. The registration fee includes a catered post-event awards luncheon. Snacks will be available at registration and along the scenic route. There will be cash prizes ranging from $100 to $500 for the best and worst poker hands; a 50/50 raffle; and much more. Although same day registration will be available, pre-registration is strongly advised and will greatly assist in preparations for this eagerly-anticipated event.
Proceeds will be contributed to the NHVH Benefit Fund to support quality of life initiatives for the Home's residents.
Chuck Lewis, past Department Commander of the American Legion for New Hampshire and a member of the NHVH Therapeutic Recreation staff, says "All riders are welcome to join residents, staff, volunteers, and friends as we celebrate Bike Day at the New Hampshire Veterans Home. We hope our participants will invite others to join them as sponsors in 'Riding for those Served.'"
