Stoxpoker Coaches Battle World's Best Poker Artificial Intelligence Program

Stoxpoker.com (http://www.stoxpoker.com), an international leader in online poker training, will be hosting the second Man vs Machine Poker Challenge at the Gaming Life Expo in the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on July 4th through July 6th. The matchup will pit the world's best artificial intelligence (AI) poker program against a host of Stoxpoker coaches, who are some of the biggest winners in poker today.

PRWEB) May 2, 2008 -- Stoxpoker.com (http://www.stoxpoker.com), an international leader in online poker training, will be hosting the second Man vs Machine Poker Challenge at the Gaming Life Expo in the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on July 4th through July 6th. The matchup will pit the world's best artificial intelligence (AI) poker program against a host of Stoxpoker coaches, who are some of the biggest winners in poker today.

This controlled scientific experiment will match two world class professional poker professional players against Polaris 2, the new take on the AI which played against Phil "The Unibomber" Laak and Ali Eslami in the first Man vs Machine match (Vancouver, July 2007). The AI is designed by University of Alberta's Computer Research Group (http://poker.cs.ualberta.ca/) who have created the AIs for BioTools' Poker Academy Pro product (http://www.poker-academy.com/poker-software/).

I fully expect this match to be extremely challenging. My goal will be to stay aggressive and to avoid tendencies that can be exploited.
Nick "stoxtrader" Grudzien, a co-founder of Stoxpoker.com with over $XM (Fill in X) in lifetime cash game winnings, will be one of the Stoxpoker coaches to do battle against Polaris 2. "Playing poker at the highest level involves continuous strategic adjustments based on what your opponent is doing" said Nick. "I fully expect this match to be extremely challenging. My goal will be to stay aggressive and to avoid tendencies that can be exploited."

The human players will be put into teams in order to play 500-hand duplicate matches. In each duplicate match, the same series of cards will be dealt, and each teammate will play an opposite side of the cards against Polaris 2 in a controlled environment. No communication is allowed between teammates during the match. At the end of the match, the total number of chips won or lost by each team member will be added together to determine the winner. This format will be used to reduce the element of random luck.

The University of Alberta Computer Research Group (http://poker.cs.ualberta.ca/) is a non-profit academic effort that has been developing leading-edge poker software for over a decade. In the previous Man versus Machine match in 2007, Phil Laak and Ali Eslami edged out Polaris in a series of 4 matches, with a final score of two wins to one with one draw. The Alberta team has learned a lot from last year's event and Polaris 2 represents a major improvement in computer playing abilities.

Stoxpoker.com (http://www.stoxpoker.com) is an industry leader in poker coaching which brings together some of the best players/coaches in the world to teach subscribers through online training videos on its website. Subscribers pay a small monthly fee to gain access a database of content and new content produced by coaches who typically bill several hundred dollars per hour for private instruction. The coaching is delivered through powerpoint presentations, hand analysis, and screen recordings of the coaches actual online play complete with instructional commentary.
