Hansen misses out on World Poker Tour win

Gus Hansen's aggressive style usually leads to him experiencing extreme highs and lows during a poker tournament. But things got out of control, even for Hansen, at the recent World Poker Tour Championship at Bellagio in Las Vegas.

Hansen entered his seventh career WPT final table as the chip leader and needed just 22 hands to knock out four players with a variety of bad beats and strong play. The three-time WPT champion had a 5-to-1 chip lead going into heads-up play with David Chiu.

Well, things didn't exactly go as planned for Hansen. After 56 hands, Chiu had battled his way into the chip lead and, two hands later, Chiu busted Hansen after hitting an ace on the river to make three of kind and beat Hansen's two pair.


It's the first WPT title for Chiu, a three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner. He earned a little over $3.3 million for the win.

This should be a very entertaining episode on the next season of the World Poker Tour.
