Online Poker: "graslevy" Captures PokerStars Sunday Million

With "graslevy" starting the final table of the PokerStars Sunday Million with nearly half of the chips in play it was more coronation than competition. Sure enough the $204,562.80 first place prize would find its way into graslevy’s pockets and none of the other players were able to put up much of fight in one of the shortest Sunday Million final tables in recent memory.

As if on cruise control graslevy started the final table with 33.8 million of the 72.54 million chips in play. His nearest competitor was Mescalin8 with just over 11 million.

With blinds of 150K/300K (30K antes) choppermen2 moved all-in for 2,563,068 from early position and it folded around to graslevy in the big blind who called. When the cards were flipped over graslevy’s pocket twos were in rough shape against the pocket tens of choppermen2 but the flop of 2d 7d 9s spelled trouble. When the turn and river failed to produce one of the remaining tens choppermen2 was eliminated in 9th place.

rainmakerAD eliminated in 8th place

The blinds were still at the 150K/300K (30K antes) level when JTD DOG raised to 750000 from the cut-off. From the button rainmakerAD pushed all-in for 1,346,524 and JTD DOG called and showed Kd Ts which was behind the pocket queens of rainmakerAD. The flop brought two tens though and JTD DOG was ahead with trip tens when the king on the turn gave him a full house. With no queen on the river rainmakerAD was out in 8th place.

HittinChills eliminated in 7th place

Blinds were now up to 200K/400K (40K antes) when HittinChills moved all-in for 2,300,170 from middle position before the flop. Mescalin8 re-raised to 5,200,000 and the remaining players folded; HittinChills showed As 9c and Mescalin8 showed pocket sevens. The board came Qh 6c 8d Qs 3c and HittinChills was unable to hit one of his six outs and he was railbound in 7th.

Purrel eliminated in 6th place

Less than a minute after the night ended for HittinChills Purrel was dealt a similar fate. Again, all the action came pre-flop with Purrel moving all-in for 5,098,390 from the button only to have JTD DOG call from the big blind. Purrel showed Ah Js while JTD DOG held pocket nines. When the flop came Td 3c Qh Purrel picked up extra outs in the form of a gutshot and on the turn he got one of them when the Jc hit. The river however brought one of two remaining nines and JTD DOG’s set of nines was good enough to send Purrel packing in 6th.

Caetana eliminated in 5th place

Faced with a short stack of only 650,808 Caetana moved all-in and was called by graslevy on the button and grabskia in the big blind. The flop, turn and river brought 6c 2c 7s 7c Ks and Caetana’s 9d Td missed. Also failing to connect was grabskia’s Th 5c and graslevy’s Ah 9c, but it did give him ace-high, which was good enough for the 2,232,424 chips in the pot and Caetana was out in 5th place and graslevy continued to build his chip stack even higher.

Blinds were still at 200K/400K (40K antes) when grabskia put his stack at risk from the cutoff with Ah 5h. Calling from the button JTD DOG showed pocket kings and was sweating when the flop delivered 8c 6c 7d giving grabskia an open-ended straight draw to go with the ace. The turn was the Th and the river was the 7h giving JTD DOG two pair and another 8,639,632 chips while eliminating grabskia in 4th.

Mescalin8 eliminated in 3rd place

The blinds were up to 250K/500K (50K antes) when graslevy called from the small blind and both graslevy and Mescalin8 saw a flop of 5s 6d Jd. Leading out for 4 million graslevy was raised by Mescalin8 another 688,085 and called. Mescalin8 was ahead on the flop with 9s 6s while graslevy held Ad Ks. The Td on the turn gave graslevy a straight draw but the Ac on the end gave the chipleader top pair and eliminated Mescalin8 in 3rd place.

JTD DOG eliminated in 2nd place

glaslevy made short work of JTD DOG as heads-up play lasted only one hand. Unlike every other elimination at this final table however, the chips did not go in pre-flop. JTD DOG raised to 1.5 million and graslevy smooth-called from the button. The flop came Ts 5h Kh and JTD DOG bet 1.8 million which graslevy called. The turn was the 8s and JTD DOG continued his aggressive play and bet 4 million only to be raised by graslevy to 8 million. JTD DOG moved all-in for his final 5.36 million and was called by graslevy. Before the turn JTD DOG showed Kd Jd for top pair while graslevy found lightning in a bottle with pocket aces for the overpair. The Ac on the river only added insult to injury for JTD DOG who busted out in 2nd place.
