Video Poker Arrests Made

North Carolina -- The Harnett County Sheriff's Office has charged four people in a video poker raid.

The charges stem from a joint investigation by the Sheriff's Office and State Bureau of Investigation in which 13 video poker machines were seized Nov. 27 in three locations near Dunn.

Only one suspect was charged with a felony. Graylon McLamb, 62, of George Perry Lee Road, was charged with operation of five video gaming machines.

"If there are five or more machines, it's a felony," Sheriff Rollins said.

Mr. McLamb was held in the Harnett County Jail on $10,000 bond. His next court appearance is Jan. 8 in Harnett County District Court.

Three other suspects were charged with misdemeanor possession of video poker machines.

They were Floyd Allen McLamb, 38, of Jonesboro Road; Kary Dwayne Pennington, 38, of West Carr Street and James Sherrill Sewell, 28, of George Perry Lee Road. They are scheduled to appear in district court on Jan. 7.

A fifth suspect was out of the country, Sheriff Rollins said.

Sheriff Rollins said his office had received complaints recently from anonymous callers about the machines.

The machines were seized at 404 George Perry Road, 1372 George Perry Road and 2058 Jonesboro Road, next to Jonesboro Baptist Church.

"So, in a sense the investigation is completed," Sheriff Rollins said. "We've got the machines. It's up to us to go to court now and substantiate how we got them and that they're illegal."
