MTV True Life Looking To Online Poker Players For New Show
When someone with the username "TrueLife" first opened a thread on 2+2 asking for "online gamblers" to participate in the taping of a show about people who live two different lives, one online and one in real life, the first reaction was that it was a scam, of course - the posters over there are a cynical bunch.
However, it would seem that the poster has been confirmed as legit and therefore has probably by now been flooded by emails from wannabe "ballers" looking for some sort of notoriety for their online poker exploits and their "gangsta" lifestyle. But who should be the real participants in a show like this?
It couldn't feature players like Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Sorel "imper1um" Mizzi or Chad "M8kingMoves/lilholdem954" Batista, because their online lives are reflected in their daily lives. They are essentially what they do, their income is derived almost solely from online poker.
Maybe people like Team Bodog's Jason "FPPoker4" Becher and Johnathan "UFPokerStar" Westra, both of whom are University of Florida students by day, but are also currently sitting at No. 4 and No. 6 on the Yearly Tournament Leaderboard at Bodog.
Or possibly like Heather "H2Bling" Wells, one of the Team Bodog WSOP Europe VIP qualifiers, who is a mom and small business owner by day, but kills it online at night after her baby has gone to bed. Team Bodog member Matt McCullough is a nurse anesthetist by profession, but won $760,000 for finishing third at the WSOP Europe and, even though that was a life-changing amount of money, decided to remain at his job because he honestly enjoys it.
They all also happen to be some of the nicest people we've ever met. So, while they may not be the degenerates that MTV is looking for, we thought their balanced "double-lives" were worth mentioning.
