BROOMFIELD — The 1st Annual Vail Hold ‘Em Poker Event for Your Cause hosted by Mario Lopez, held this past Tuesday, Oct. 16, raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars for a number of very worthy causes. Celebrities including Joey Fatone, James Kyson Lee (Heroes), Shannon Elizabeth, Danny Masterson, Chris Masterson, Kevin Brown (30 Rock), Robert Iler (Sopranos), Boyz II Men and Jason Chambers all competed to win $100,000 for their favorite charities.
While some celebrities brought their “a-game,” others chose to hang out and watch the tourney at this party with a purpose. Joey Fatone, Boyz II Men, Robert Iler joined the crowed in routing for those players headed for the winner’s circle and perused the silent auction items up for grabs. Shannon Elizabeth, Danny Masterson and Chris Masterson were leading the pack however, only Chris made to the final round. Danny played big brother well coaching Chris through the final round.
Masterson lost to Mark Lotke who walked away with the top prize of $100,000 going to the Spotlight Light Foundation. The Masterson brothers played for Citizens Commission on Human Rights, Elizabeth was supporting her own charity, Animal Avengers. Joey Fatone & Boyz II Men played for The Fatone Family Foundation and Lift Up America.
Wyclef Jean rocked the crowed with an exciting and eclectic mix of his popular hits and covers of the classic songs including “La Bamba” and “Guantanamera” supporting his charity Yele Haiti.
In addition to the poker tournament, the live and silent auctions were also a hit. Stand out bid of the evening went to the Alex Rodriquez 500 baseball bat, which went for $15,000.
