Police sting uncovers illegal poker games in Bettendorf

Bettendorf, Iowa - Several people are facing charges after a nine-month long investigation into an eastern Iowa gambling operation.

Iowa DCI Special Agent in Charge Ben Mims says 10 people were charged with Gaming and Betting on Monday night at a home in Bettendorf. One more person was cited for Interference with Official Acts. Undercover officers had been at the home monitoring illegal poker games involving large sums of cash.

Mims says some of the individuals have ties to the Isle of Capri Casino in Bettendorf. "There was one current poker supervisor gambling," Mims says, "and there were two former Isle of Capri employees gambling."

The only suspect identified in the case is the individual accused of hosting the weekly poker games in her home. Mims identifies the woman as 38 year old Tammy Louann Proulx. Proulx is a former Isle of Capri-Bettendorf poker room dealer. She was issued citations for Gaming and Betting, Keeping a Gambling House, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Mims says officers seized over $6,200 in cash Monday night. He says more people will likely be charged in case.
