CPPC to take place at Hollywood Park Casino
If you want to learn how to become a winning poker player then the First Annual California Poker Players Conference might be for you.
The conference, whose theme is "Gain a POSITIVE EXPECTATION! Learn to be a WINNING Poker player," is being held in conjunction with the 12-day National Championship of Poker Tournament at the Hollywood Parks Casino in Inglewood, CA.
One of the main organizers is Phyllis Caro, director of poker operations at the Hollywood Park Casino. She told Woman Poker Player magazine she's expecting a great turnout.
"Attendees will gain more solid information about winning poker in this two-day conference than they could ever hope for!" she said.
Other organizers include George "The Engineer" Epstein who is a columnist for Poker Player newspaper as well as a poker teacher. Meanwhile Normandie Casino Poker Manager Robert Turner will also lend a helping hand at the conference.
The keynote speaker will be none other than the Mad Genius of Poker, Mike Caro. Caro, who is the founder of the Mike Caro University of Poker, will also act as a moderator and offer poker tips throughout the conference.
Also speaking will be WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack, who is ready to share some details of the 2008 series, Barbara Enright (the first women inducted to the WSOP hall of fame), Queens Can Beat Kings author Susie Isaacs and many more.
The newly appointed executive director of the Poker Player's Alliance (PPA), John Pappas, will also give an update regarding the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and what it means for the future of the game.
There will be a number of other presentations from poker experts like Marsha Waggoner, Stan Sludikoff, Tony Guerrera and Charlie Shoten.
One highlight will be the Challenge the Experts segment wherein the audience will be able to ask presenters a number of questions regarding the game of poker.
Tabletop displays will also be on the scene exhibiting poker books and other poker-related materials.
The conference will take place over two days, Oct. 20-21, with a portion of the proceeds going to charity.
