Baguio bet earns P1M in poker tilt

Joderek Bautista claimed the first Philippine Poker Tour (PPT) Million-Peso Hold’em gold champion bracelet and the P1-M top prize after an exhausting two-day marathon Main Event at the Casino Filipino in Parañaque.

The 28-year-old from Baguio City plans to allocate a portion of his prize money to his ongoing charity projects in his home city.


The beneficiaries of his various projects included the Baguio City Jail inmates, Home for the Aged and street children.


“Eventually all the (prize) money will be used up, but I will cherish the gold champion bracelet”.


A total of 160 players disputed the coveted bracelet in the two-day main event, 110 were winners in the satellite events.

After six hours of preliminary action, 30 advanced on the finals with only one female — Angelica Jamlang – making the cut.


The survivors were trimmed to 10 for the final table.


On the way to the Main Event, over 400 poker enthusiasts participated in satellite tournaments conducted for a three-month period at accredited tournament sites in Baguio City, Valle Verde Country Club, San Mig Alabang. Elbow Room at the Metro-Walk, Pasig and at Rajah Hotel in Cebu City.
