New South Wales clubs will benefit from new poker machine tax rates

Dramatic tax decreases being phased in start September 1,2006.

Queanbeyan Age, New South Wales, Australia – Due to changes in gaming tax rates and a new agreement between the New South Wales Government and ClubsNSW, Queanbeyan clubs will see benefits.


The changes, which will significantly lower the amount many clubs will have to pay, will begin phasing in from September 1, 2006.
Under this new agreement, all clubs that earn less than $1 million in poker machine revenues will pay no state tax.


Clubs earning $1 million to $5 million, and $5 million to $10 million will pay 21% and 26% state tax respectively. That equates to a drop of 4% and 9% compared to the original poker machine agreement under the Carr Government.


Clubs with higher poker machine earning are also in for significant state tax cuts, with clubs earning $10 million to $20 million, and $20 million plus, getting cuts of 11% and 9.1% respectively on the scheduled amount by 2011.
