WPT testing new structure at Bellagio Cup III
With a news season fully underway, the World Poker Tour is heading to the Bellagio in Las Vegas for its next stop where it will be testing out a new structure for the main event.
Several events of the Bellagio Cup III have already taken place, gearing up for the $10,000 main event scheduled for July 10-15. The main event will be filmed for television, adding the Bellagio Cup to the WPT's list of prestigious events.
"We are always thrilled to return to the incomparable Bellagio to work with Doug Dalton, Jack McClelland and their distinguished team," said Steve Lipscomb, WPT founder, president and CEO.
The tournament will also provide the WPT with a chance to test out a new structure.
"I've spoken with numerous players and tournament directors over the past month regarding optimal poker tournament structures," said Lipscomb, "and I believe we all look forward to seeing how this test works at Bellagio Cup III."

"The tournament structure will be similar to the one players have come to enjoy during all of the Bellagio's WPT events," said Bellagio Tournament Director Jack McClelland.
According to McClelland, the structure features plenty of time during the rounds and a large number of chips, with the final table structure remaining the same until its down to two players. Then the levels will change to 60 minutes.
