2007 WSOP: Phil Hellmuth hunts new record

Dave Stucke won a golden bracelet, but, as usual, Phil Hellmuth attracted most of the attention on day 18 of the 2007 World Series of Poker. "The Poker Brat" is among the ten players who will return tomorrow to fight for the title in Event 28, $3,000 No-Limit Texas Hold'em.

The WSOP organizers choose to stop play with ten players remaining in order to make sure that Phil Hellmuth would return to play on the final day.

But, as Hellmuth himself pointed out, he has not officially reached the final table yet, and will need one more player to bust out before tying T.J. Clouitier's record of 39 final table appearances in the WSOP.

It's not a sure thing, however, with Phil Hellmuth being one of the short-stacks with only $213,000 in his stack. Chip leader Dustin Holmes sits with $1,076,000 in front of him.

Another No-Limit Texas Hold'em event, with a $1,500 buy-in, has been completed, with Dave Stucke coming out on top.

Stucke made his way through a 2,315 man strong starting field, and finally defeated Young Cho heads-up to win Event 27. Aside from the golden bracelet, Dave Stucke gets $603,069 in prize money for his achievement.

Event 29, $1,500 Seven-Card Razz, was also scheduled to end on day 18, but long play on day 2 of the tournament caused a third day to be added. The final table has been set, and will kick off at 3 p.m. (PST). O'Neil Longson is in the lead ahead of Larry St. Jean and Denny Axel.
