Negreanu joins Team PokerStars

Already one of the most popular players on the live circuit, Daniel "Kid Poker" Negreanu is about to up his presence in the online scene, announcing PokerStars.com will be his new professional Internet home.

Already home to world champs Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, and Chris Moneymaker - and noted pros Barry Greenstein, Humberto Brenes and Isabelle Mercier - the addition of Negreanu now gives Team Poker Stars claim to one of the most popular players in the world.

And it gives Negreanu a much higher presence online than his current gig as the face of Full Contact Poker, as PokerStars.com is firmly ensconsed as the biggest online poker site in the world.

"I've enjoyed a long personal relationship with the folks at PokerStars since the company's founding in 2001 and have always felt as though PokerStars fully understood what players wanted: lots of tournaments, lots of variety and great software," Negreanu said in a release.

"I'm very excited about joining Team PokerStars. The organization seems like the perfect fit for me and I'm glad they feel the same way."

Negreanu also brings with him a ton of poker accolades and industry cred, being a former "Player of the Year" and holder of three World Series of Poker bracelets, winning his first in 1998.

Added fellow Team PokerStars member Barry Greenstein: "Daniel embodies what poker and PokerStars are all about: enjoying the excitement and the challenge of poker. Daniel is a true ambassador of the sport and we welcome him to the Team."

Players at FullContactPoker will also be making the move to PokerStars with Negreanu, as the site will stop offering live poker and will only host Negreanu's blog and an online poker school in the future.
