Grosvenor UK Poker Tour crowns fifth winner

The second time was the charm for Dave Smith this past weekend as he made his second final table on the Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour and walked away with a win and the top position on the GUKPT Leaderboard.

The win didn't come easy for Smith. He went up against Neil Carr in a heads-up battle that lasted more than an hour.

He finally claimed victory when he called Carr's all-in re-raise on a 5-4-T all-diamond flop. Carr had made the flush with the 6-2, but Smith's nine of diamonds ended up being better when the turn brought the ace of diamonds as well.

Smith took home £95,100 for his win in Brighton, plus a seat in the £10,000 Grand Final.

Carr went home with £50,300 - not bad for his first live poker tournaments. His brother bought him into the tournament for his birthday, and the International Master at Chess made it pay off.

The next leg of the tour won't be until late July in Newcastle after the GUKPT takes a two month summer break.
