Tournament director says adios to WSOP

World Series of Poker tournament director Robert Daily is jumping ship to lead an international investment group's online gaming division as a board member.

Just weeks before the start of the 2007 WSOP - for which Daily was slated to serve as tournament director - DG Holdings, Ltd. announced his appointment to privately held group.

After 11 years working in different capacities with Harrah's, Daily will oversee the DG Holdings gaming division, formed four years ago to develop a state-of-the-art gaming platform to enable fully integrated online operations.

"I have greatly enjoyed my years with Harrah's, and especially the World Series of Poker," Daily said in a DGH release today.

"I have every confidence this year's WSOP will run smoothly and efficiently and if I did not feel strongly that the tournament was ready, I would not have left at this time."

DGH approached Daily to join the group as a board member to provide leadership in the gaming division with specific concentration on poker, he goes on to say in the release.

"I couldn't pass up the opportunity," Daily said. "I have made many great friends within the poker industry and I look forward to working with them in the future from a different perspective."

The investment group had been eyeing Daily for some time, the firm said in a statement, and with the launch of its first licensed poker site next month the appointment's timing is perfect.
