More World Series on ESPN airwaves this year

ESPN is amping up its coverage of this year's World Series of Poker by increasing Main Event airtime and showcasing the pro-laden $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. tournament, the sports channel announced Monday.

The WSOP-related schedule on ESPN will include 16 hours in WSOP coverage of the championship, 10 one-hour programs of other bracelet events, and six hours dedicated to the H.O.R.S.E. tournament, which will showcase all five forms of poker included in the mixed-game event.

The schedule of events ESPN plans to film for broadcast is as follows:

June 1, Event 1: Mixed Hold'em World Championship, $5,000 buy-in
June 2, Event 3: No-Limit Hold'em, $1,500 buy-in
June 3, Event 4: Pot-Limit Hold'em, $1,500 buy-in
June 4, Event 7: Pot-Limit Omaha, $5,000 buy-in
June 5, Event 8: No-Limit Hold'em, $1,000 buy-in with re-buys
June 8, Event 13: Pot-Limit Hold'em, $5,000 buy-in
June 17, Event 28: No-Limit Hold'em, $3,000 buy-in
June 18, Event 30: No-Limit Hold'em Six-Handed, $2,500 buy-in
June 19, Event 31: No-Limit Hold'em Heads Up, $5,000 buy-in
June 20, Event 33: Pot-Limit Omaha with re-buys, $1,500 buy-in
June 24, Event 39: H.O.R.S.E. World Championship, $50,000 buy-in
July 1, Event 50: Pot-Limit Omaha World Championship, $10,000 buy-in
July 6, Event 55: No-Limit Hold'em Main Event, $10,000 buy-in
Air times for the coverage will be released in the coming months. The WSOP gets underway June 1 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

"We're delighted that ESPN is bringing even more depth to its already superb coverage of the WSOP," said commissioner Jeffrey Pollack.

"No one produces poker better than ESPN, and its powerful audience of sports fans will see all of the thrills, drama and excitement that make us so unique."
