Liu falls to Forrest: Ted hears thunk of millions

Two big firsts as the World Poker Tour's Bay 101 Shooting Star event wrapped this weekend: Cash game legend and five-time WSOP bracelet winner Ted Forrest finally checked off a WPT title from his to-do list; and J.J. Liu, not to be completely outdone, became the highest-finishing woman ever in a WPT event.

One more likely record: Liu was playing "with child," no less, ensuring the youngest-ever final table appearance for the wee one, if they keep track of that sort of thing.

By all accounts the final table was flush with strong play and the final heads-up duel even more so.

Over 260 hands and nine hours of play were needed to get down to the final showdown between Liu and Forrest, with Forrest's pocket sevens finally doing the trick against Liu's A-8 and capping his comeback from a once-substantial chip deficit.

Forrest buffs his coffers with $1.1 million in prize money, while Liu takes home $600,000 and the very respectable consolation prize of being the last shooting star standing from the ace-stuffed tournament.

Your final results:

Seat Name Chips
1 Ted Forrest $1,100,000
2 Joanne Liu $600,000
3 Amir Shayesteh $314,500
4 James Van Alstyne $200,000
5 Vincent Shaw $200,000
6 Bill Edler $160,000

Finishing just out of the money were rising stars Joe Sebok and Jeff Madsen, in seventh and eighth place respectively.
