Final table in reach at EPT Polish Open

The final table is in the making at the European Poker Tour's Polish Open. By the end of Day 2, eight players will be in line to sit pretty at the event's final table tomorrow in Warsaw.

The second day of play at the The Hyatt Regency Hotel and Casino saw 94 players hanging in for a shot at the newly minted EPT event title.

After tallying the 284 entrants' €4,000 buy-ins, total prize money for the Polish Open tops $1 million. The last 24 players in the event all get paid, but the eight final tablers will walk away with the biggest piece of cake.

To start the day, Henning Granstad topped the chip leaderboard with $80,800, but was trailed closely by Patric Martensson with $79,000. Marius Torbergsen was clinging to his $74,000 stack, while Peter Jepsen and Roberto Matic rounded out the top five monied players of Day 2 with $73,300 and $71,900, respectively.

But by late in the day, Jepsen doubled up through then-chip leader Thomas Mathieson for a $200,000 stack. He tacked on an extra $100,000 after taking down a massive pot and subsequently creating plenty of breathing room between himself and the competition.
