Fistful of zlotys: EPT moves to Poland

Home to incredible museums and art galleries, legendary theatres and stunning architecture, Warsaw, Poland has a rich - and in some cases unmatched - cultural heritage. More importantly today: They've got poker, as the European Poker Tour (EPT) has landed.

Both the capital of Poland and its largest city, with a population of some 1.6 million people, Warsaw is in the midst of the biggest economic boom of its history.

Also: a little poker crazy, so certainly a fitting place to follow up the smash hit that was the EPT German Open, a fellow first-time event finished just last weekend in Dortmund.

The Polish Open, held at Casinos Poland in the Hyatt Regency Hotel, got underway today, with a four-day No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament set to hand a deserving poker player a fistful of zlotys for their troubles.

PokerListings.com's own Matt Showell has made his way feltside for all the coverage, and by all accounts, the champagne, canapes and pianist for the welcome party in the elegant Lazienki Lounge were delighful.

But there is poker to be played, and it seems there was no shortage of pros with a mittful of buy-in willing to pile on to the train to Warsaw as well.

Among the pros already spotted at the tables: Andy Black, Roland De Wolfe, Praz Bansi, previous EPT champ Mads Anderson and last week's EPT Dortmund champ himself, Andreas Hoivold.
